The China-Germany Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum and China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) Promotion Event were held on September 11, 2024, in Dusseldorf, Germany. This event took place during a visit to the country by a Chinese business delegation headed by Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). Ren, along with Du Chunguo, Chinese Consul General in Dusseldorf, and Andreas Schmitz, President of the Dusseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce and President of the Advisory Board of the German-Chinese Business Association (DCW), attended and addressed the event.
Noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Germany comprehensive strategic partnership, Ren emphasized that China-Germany relations have maintained sound development with cooperation in all aspects continuously consolidated and deepened. Economic and trade cooperation is the bedrock of China-Germany relations. The two countries whose industrial and supply chains are deeply intertwined enjoy complementary advantages in trade. He hoped that enterprises from both countries would leverage their respective strengths, tap the huge potential of mutually beneficial cooperation, make the pie of shared interests bigger, and become important partners in terms of investment cooperation and technological innovation. He welcomed more German enterprises to actively participate in the second CISCE, jointly promote China-Germany supply chain cooperation, and work together to build a stable and smooth global supply chain.
Du Chunguo expressed that China-Germany cooperation has a solid foundation, enormous potential and robust economic and trade ties. Urgent efforts are required to fully tap the vast potential for win-win cooperation between the two countries in traditional fields such as mechanical engineering and automobiles, as well as emerging areas like green transformation, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. He encouraged German entrepreneurs to make use of the CISCE platform to help Chinese and German enterprises complement each other and forge synergy.
According to Andreas Schmitz, the DCW has worked closely with the CCPIT over the years, committing itself to boosting the Germany-China relations and weaving a dense network of businesses from both countries. Given that China’s supply chain system is comprehensive, agile, and flexible, both the German and Chinese business communities should seize opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, innovation, and technology.
During the promotion event, representatives from Chinese and German enterprises shared examples of cooperation regarding industrial and supply chains. The China International Exhibition Center Group Corporation (CIEC Group) promoted the second CISCE and signed relevant agreements with the DCW. The event was attended by approximately 130 representatives from businesses of both sides.
Following the event, Ren Hongbin led the Chinese business delegation to hold talks with Andreas Schmitz and other representatives of the German business community.
